Has anybody actually used the Optimax cards to check their tyre depth? Not me

Bout 9000 all round.

The second set seem to be going a bit off at 13K, so they may have to go soon.

I reckon new ones each autumn should see you safely through the winter months.

BTW, you should really replace all four at once. New fronts will be much grippier than worn rears, unless you like going @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ down the road.

Well I did pretty well on the fronts. Just Changed originals at 21,500 miles. Plenty of motorway driving and they were slicks on the inside face.

Err. I haven't even reached 11K miles (in almost 4 years) but my rears are only just legal.
Fronts are quite good in the middle, but the outer edges are smooth from track day abuse. They would have probably been good for another 5 or 6k miles.
Just about to get some rears and will probably get fronts as well even though there is a few k left in them. I don't want to keep driving to Bracknell and back for cheap tyres.

How often are people checking their tyre pressures, and what are they using as a pressure guage?

Back in my mini days I found out the hard (expensive) way just how sensitive tyre wear is to tyre pressure.

I check them every week and use a normal analogue gauge that I checked against another gauge to ensure that it was accurate (unless by some fluke they're both off by the same amount ).

Don't see as it matters what you use digital/analogue something basic or state of the art, as long as its accurate. Never found a garage air guage that was accurate though

a garage tyre gauge will not be very accurate as they are abused, they should be calibrated. i use one from an i.s.o. 2002. registered co. (old b.s.i.). if you do they are calibrated evey 6 months.
