Default Reflective Plates

An article in today's News of the World claims that "Fed up motorists have discovered a way of beating ... Gatso speed cameras (by) coating their number-plates in a type of ladies' cosmetic". Seemingly thousands of motorists have already passed it on through "Internet chatrooms". Unfortunately I don't have a scanner and the online edition only carries the main news articles - limited though these are! - not this story.

The article also quotes a BMW driver, who had used

This (or at least something like it) has been around for years, Rog. It's illegal and (last I heard) didn't work very effectively anyway.

In the current climate of police persecution of motorists, I'd be wary of using something like that which gives them one more reason to pull you and give you a ticket.

One of my old mates on UKRM had a good photo of a line of motorcycles parked up and on one of them, his, the numberplate couldn't be seen as the photo had been taken with a flash.

He had the plate made up in Canada.

These sometimes work, obviuosly only for Gatso's, will not work on SPECS or Truvelo, and the police will throw the book at you, Xenon / Halogen lights show them up straight away. Not worth it, much better getting Road Angel / whatever and knowing where the safety devices are.
