Default Relocating the number plate

I was thinking of taking the plate and surround off and putting it bellow the radiator opening like a 206 or a Chimmera, has anyone done this and what do you think of the idea?I would bin the surround and maybe get an L shaped bracket to screw the plate to and secure it on the underside of the spoiler.

Wouldn't this get in the way of air intake, and cause heat build up ?

I would have to reduce the size of the plate and locate as low as possible, if it obstructs the air I would not do it. Ill probably have a play with an old plate before I try moving it.

Depending on how brave you are with "The Officer Dibbles" in your area, you could buy a copy of MCN next wednesday and in the back lots of adverts for "Show Plates" available.
You could then consider having a plate made up that is less tall than UK legal and shorter, [mine is only 6 digits] and mount it on the original flat surface, with surround, bolts etc removed.

I plan to try this first, if it fails I may go the route of my "E" Type and put a soft flexible plate on instead ??

I will post when I've done or tried it.

I was think the very same Colin, and using a cut down plate like the XK8 on the front of the Sunday Times motoring section last week. Don't yo have to remove the front bump to get rid of the mounting bolts.

The best site for new plates is:

I have seen Evo's and Elise with tiny front plates and stick on plates amost horizontal.

The S2000 looks so much nicer with out the big stuck on front plate and surround.
