This is for real.... when I lived in Manchester a few years back, they had a 'buy one get one for free' (or - bogoff) on these houses on an estate near me..... crazy.

Easy peasy, gotta be less than a grand for the whole estate.

Well, after a very chill and frost night in West Sussex, I can confirm that a towel (100% cotton with seams removed, of course) tucked neatly arount the rear window works a treat!

I find the easiest way to clear the rear screen on a morning like today (snow on windscreen, frost and snow on roof, frost on rear screen) is to pour warm water from the tap over the screens and roof, with heatingon full. Then before pulling away, put on wooly hat and lower the roof.

It was a glorious if chilly drive to work this morning!

Keep well

I think the problem only really arises if the roof is absolutely soaking, if the car is then left with the roof down it can suffer from mildew.

When does a little bit of moisture hurt, especially when the sun is out. Having got my car on September the 11th I have to make full use of any sunshine day, regardless of ambient temperature.... That is unless the follwing formulae is met.

Fresh air*Fun/sound of wife complaining of cold<1

Of course the follwing is also true

Smile on face*sound of engine/Sound of wife complaing of cold<1

I tend to find that once the value goes below 1 I also tend to suffer from small impact bruises

Warning! the fabric (pvc) can be brittle like the window on cold mornings. On my MX-5 it could be quite stiff to fold on cold mornings/nights.

I recommend parking the car in the sun, with the engine running, full defrost and recirc for a few minutes before hitting the button.

I rarely used to put the targa roof on my X1/9. I came out in the small hours one winter & it was full up to the handbrake in snow!

That was really cold, even after I'd removed some of the snow. The leatherette seat cracked slightly when I sat on it.

That is exactly what I do. Warm water over the rear screen then heater running for about 5 mins, then roof down.

Keep well
Peter
