Removing oil from under bonnet material
A few months ago I had the classic cock up of forgetting to refit the oil cap and ended up firing some oil into the sound deadening material under the bonnet. Luckily not much oil was lost but nevertheless the material is marked and deposits oil on the strut brace at a point where it just makes contact.
What is a cheap and simple way of removing the oil? I thought perhaps a steam cleaner but I'm not sure how easy it is to find one at a petrol station these days? I do have one of those cheap steam cleaners from Halfords (looks like a black kettle) but, based on previous experience, it will be useless!

Most APCs (All purpose cleaners) are just degreasers, Meguiars do an APC, a Degreaser and a Super Degreaser but generally these are bought by the US gallon. A much cheaper option is to pop into Aldi an buy their APC, its just over

Thanks guys. I wonder what is the best treatment method to actually drive the oil out? If I wiped the degreaser-soaked material then I guess not a huge amount of oil would come out. Perhaps I should remove the material, degrease then jet wash it?

Not sure how difficult it is to take out, but I'd try a few rounds of APC, aggitate with a clean paint brush and then rinse with clean warm water in a sprayer, repeating as necessary.
Take the car for a spin and it will soon dry.
