Default Request for s2000 ride

Hey,

First let me introduce myself. I have been a member on these boards for a while, but I dont think I have ever posted before. The reason for me being a member was to browse the forums and look at S2000 related discussions, photos, modifications etc.
I have wanted an S2000 for about the past 3 years, pretty much ever since I first saw Fast and Furious which introduced the car to me, since then I have consistantly had various S2000s as my PC wallpaper, posters on my bedroom walls etc and generally my jaw drops everytime I see one.

I have unfortunately not been able to get insured on one until this year (I am currently 23) as it has either been extremely expensive or insurers just walk away!

I currently drive a Mini Cooper S which has been highly modified by myself to around the 250bhp mark. It is great fun to drive and I really like the car, however my mind always wanders back to S2000s.

I did a test drive in one last year before Xmas with Blackpool Honda and unfortunately the car broke down mid trst drive! So that wasnt really the best introduction to them lol!! As much as I had hoped that she would get me another car to continue to drive in, she didnt - and we returned to the dealership to discuss if I was going ahead with the purchase....which at that point I wasnt ready to do and it breaking down on me didnt really inspire the greatest confidence in that car either!!
And then for weeks afterwards I would get 5+ phonecalls a week from them trying to sell it to me, and tbh I just dont want that hassle again!!

So I have decided Im going to put a request out for someone to take me for a spin in their S2k if anyone around the Lancashire area would be kind enough. Im not asking to drive it or anything like that, but to be driven a few miles in it, I will even cover petrol costs

Realistically I could sell my Mini and buy an S2k in a matter of weeks if the right deal came along but first I just need to make 100% sure in my mind that I like the drive and feel of an S2k before taking the next step.

Thanks to anyone who replies
All the best

To be honest deciding whether you should buy an S2000 by judging it by being a passenger isn't the right thing to do, you need to drive it yourself and be comfortable as a driver before you can decide.

just go to a different car dealer or private seller and test drive the car.

It might be nice as a passenger you might hate the way it drives, unlikely but possible.

I had never driven one when I bought mine - in fact I don't think I'd even had a passenger ride until I had the money in my hand and was about to pay.

I've not looked back (maybe I'm special )

I think an excellent way would be to try and passenger on a driving meet up in your area. Most people don't mind taking someone and you'll def get a good feel of the whole s2k world

I had my first test drive at a Honda dealership.
I had to pre-book it.
When I received the first of the annoying phone calls I just told the guy that I’d already bought one from somewhere else.

If you want an S2000 that much a test drive won't make much difference. I did test drive one before I bought mine just to make sure I'd fit the cockpit is small but not overly so.
Its performance, soft top, 2 seater with rear wheel drive... non of these things had I ever experienced before. I love the car and although there are somethings about it that could be improved it would mean compromises or high costs elsewhere. If you really do think you have to ride in one before buying go along to your nearest meet and I'm sure you'll be able to persuade someone to take you for a spin.

pretty much what i did. always liked the S2000 since release.

a few years later i was working as a contractor in a leased car depot - saw one. sat in it, and a week later i had my own.

driving it on the road was a formality of a private purchase just to ensure it drove ok!

i do wish i looked at a few more, but nothing specific to the one i have. colours might of swayed me more but i bought primarily for the rwd softtop performance.
if Mazda had a higher output engine then i'd of most probably ended up on the MX5 forums.

+1 for Test Drive (you'll be sold).

If you really do need this, and can't find someone to help anytime soon, I'll be in Blackpool visiting family on evening of 7th May/morning of 8th May and could probably find a half hour to pootle out the back of Poulton/Singleton with you if it would help.

PM for more.
