Default The 'Ring

Hi All,

Had anyone taken their S to the Nurburgring? I've been there on my bike for the past few years, but this year I'm taking the car.

I was wondering what sort of wear and tear I can expect on a weekend trip. Do I need to take spares like brake pads, oil etc? What sort of tyre wear could I expect?

I never made any special arrangements for the bike - but that was a bit more track oriented as standard!

Thanks in advance!

Been twice in the S so far. Going again in July.....

I always take spare oil but ive never needed to take spares of anything else. Saying that, I drive within my limits and dont go too mad. I usually need to replace pads and tyres shortly after coming back though.

Great fun tho. The S loves it!!!

When in July are you going? We're there for the Truck GP weekend (24th to 27th July).

First time taking the car, so I think driving within limits is the order of the day!

Nice pic btw! How did you get that?

We are going at beginning of July (3rd to 6th)

I got the pic by scouring sites of proffesional photographers that take pictures of tourist cars at the ring and post them on the net. They then charge you to download full size ones.

Been 4 times, twice with the S2000.

Take a 5L can of oil, and as long as the pads/tyres are new you'll be fine.

Hi,

I'm going in May for the first time. Obviously taking the S. SWMBO comming too. We are going for five days. That way we should get some dry running etc!

New Brakes and Tyres going on the car now. Oil will be the only other spare part in the car.

Those of you that have been before, can you advise me on Breakdown Cover for the Ring as normal European breakdown cover does not seem to apply. I've had a look at Ben Lovejoys site and there is a German company that will recover from the Ring but I'm reluctant to take out a years cover for a single five day trip!

Any other advice apprecieated.

I think ADAC are the only ones who recover you from the Ring.

Don't go; it's rubbish.

The AA explicitly exclude The Nurburging, but the RAC don't. However if you breakdown on the track you probably don't have a lot of choice but to use the ADAC truck that's there and they'll charge you the best part of

Denbo,

So what you are saying that ADAC cover is just not worth it?

I will just have normal European Breakdown cover, then if I do actually break down on circuit I just bite the bullet and pay ADAC the
