Default Road Angel Laser Detection

As this months EVO talks about the latest Road Angel having a built in Laser Detector I thought I'd ask them for some news....... and more to the point is there an upgrade available for existing RA owners.......

RA sent the following reply:

================================================== =================
Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your e-mail. Road Angel will be available with laser as from end of February beginning of March.

You can purchase the laser upgrade for

Its got to just be a detector for that money - excellent price, though !!
They sell RA as a safety device - a diffuser would mean deliberate intent to interfere with Plod's devices and reclassification of the RA.

I'll be upgrading mine !
Do you know if it detects temporary Gatsos (K / Ka band) too ?

Currently debating all of this. My primary intent was to get a GPS system and Road Angel seems to be best of the bunch at the moment (eg. EVO review). However, quite fancy a laser detector as well (ideally as one package). This gets me to considering either the RA with detector (as mentioned above) or the Snooper S6 Neo. The Snooper is about

Am I missing something? As I understood it, all a laser detector will do is tell you once you've been zapped - by definition, if the signal is strong enough to set off the detector, that's because it has got a solid hit on you which should be sufficient to register your speed

Even at

...the laser spill is emitted much further than when they hit your car so in some cases you`ll experience (or the detector will) the laser radiation much earlier. Thus helps a little in the odds game.

But more to the point....its another 30 quid to spend on the car? Why the heck are you arguing with that!!!!!!!

Not an expert on this stuff but my understanding was that you might get some advance warning of a mobile laser trap. Understand that often by the time you've detected it you are caught but I think in some cases you may be lucky and get a bit of advanced warning. Given that GPS systems do not help here and jammers are potentially illegal I'm happy to pay a little extra for some potential protection against mobile traps. However, would love to hear from others on this.

Here is another recent thread about the RA

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=105102

Anybody know how big this add-on is, as on the S6R the laser detector is a whacking great big box that can be mounted inside and outside (i.e. behind the grill) of the car. Not being picky, but I don't want anything ruining the smooth dashboard lines anybody got any pics of the laser (Dr. Evil ) detector?
