Road tax

Hi guys,

Would anyone be able to let me know how much a 2005 (55 plate) S2000 would have been to tax back when it was new in 2005-2006. Quite intrigued to compare what the price hike is from then and now when it is £395.

Thanks

As close as I can get.. a 2001 car was cheap back in the day - £155 a year

I am about to tax it for the summer, probably approaching £200 for 6 months? So in real terms I would say it's cheaper now

Late ones are £675 so not attractive to a tax averse lad like me lol

Would be good to see anyone with a 2005 or 2006 road tax disc.

I think they're over £700 now!

Oh please,I try not to think about VED, I just bite the bullet and pay it once a year and decide that’s the cost of a daily paper I don’t buy covering it, it’s the price we pay for the smile the car puts on our faces, it is unfair that different years pay different amounts but of course the high prices ain’t coming down they’d all just rise to match the highest level, that’s our government for you?

You pay the price for a better car imo 06 onwards :p
My opinion, controversially.. the later models are supremely better. Stronger rear diff, stronger gearbox.. less twitchy. IIRC Savagegeese did a YouTube clip on the upgrades on later s2000s. In fact he did 2. Definitely more useable in the wet and late braking. Having owned '00, '02 and '06, covering 90k miles across them spanning 20 years / 6 years owning the 3.
I accept it, and think - it's an upgrade tax
(Goes off to measure crank walk and DBW cable droop):egads:

Wow, is that how much a 55 plate S2000 was to tax when new? Unbelievable. Tax at its finest but worth it for the S2000.

DBW and you say better? Homo.

My boosted one is betterer, very driftable, who needs a strong diff when you can just swap it? Lol

I am too tight to pay £700 to tax, even though I only tax one of mine for 6m I do 2 for that and a bike ;)

:D
Yep, I'd stick my neck out and say it is. Still has a cable half way. Mine runs fine, fairly sensitive now it's tightened to within 1.2cm -1.5cm of slack. No delay with mine despite it being a frequent whinge across the pond. Probably DBW does not last as long in hotter climates I'd suggest, and requires replacing. They're only 30 quid anyway, piece of piss to swap over.
Boosted... You'll pay at the pumps.. and higher wear, more heat etc. So it's all relative.
if our not so clever govt sorted the car tax out properly, higher powered cars included mapped /boosted or whatever, should pay more. All declarable on insurance and MOT (dodgy mot testers though everywhere haha).
it doesn't need to be insanely fast to be fun in my view, but I'd still like a passenger in a boosted one :D
