Roof down in the cold strategy

Roof down in the cold strategy
Well i left work as the sunset this eve but it looked clear out so i thought why not! I end driving topless alot, much to the amusement of others on my commute. I had my standard issue thin coat and hat on but was getting a little bit chilly still.
So i have been experimenting with windows up/down, heater settings. Not had the car for long so what are other people doing?
I found windows up with heater on feet and up works best. In the roof down setting i was getting a bit cold in the upper body.
Interestingly having just the passenger window up cuts out alot of the draught by your right leg, worked in the MX5 as well!

Rule no. 1 - if its sunny and dry the roof comes down whatever the temperature.
We're blessed with such a good heater, two winters ago I had an elise without a heater and that was cold.
Converserly I've found that the hood down heater setting gives a more even temperature in the car, on feet and face only my feet get far too hot.

Wooly hat, neck warmer thing/scarf and a pair of driving gloves, combined with the heater on the "roof down" setting works a treat. For extra heat and blowing power, hit the recirculate, or "I'm following a stinking diesel" button

and best when the stars are out and the Milky Way is at its finest.
And, WGAF what others think. I get the odd look (and comment and hand gesture) when I leave work (army regiment) with the roof down in the cold, the rain and even the snow occasionally. I would rather be known for my differences than my similarities.

The guy I bought mine from told me it was best in the dark, something that had simply never occurred to me. I thought he was nuts, but we went for a test drive roof down in the dark.
I almost always have the windows up, but the roof down heater setting works perfectly and you can put up with a fair amount of rain too as long as you keep moving.
