rotor surface rust
hi guys my car has been un-used for 2 weeks and all four rotors are covered in surface rust. do you think it will damage my pads?? or shall i take the wheels off and sand them down??
A tip if you are going to leave it parked up for a while. Park it in gear and leave the hand brake off. Rear pads can partially seize on to the rear rotors and cause caliper or rotor problems.
Both my S's suffered from this and the stealers love to quote for new rear pads and discs when they get scored.

I found that the non shiny 'rough' bit of the disk - ie the bit where the bolts stick out rusted up real bad which then run over the disk itself. Mine were real bad so I painted them with Hammerite black heat proof paint. Seriously worked well! Dried quick and stopped any rust from then onwards
