Like a fool, I rushed the removal of some wheel nuts and seem to have rounded the security nut fitted. To be sure, I had a couple more goes and now it just slips.

I was planning to take the wheels off the car to get new rubber fitted, but presumably a decent garage will be able to remove a rounded nut from the car? I'm sure they must deal with this level of stupid quite frequently, but I'm worried it may result in (more) damage to my rims. Is there anything else I can try before driving down to the garage?

I don't suppose anyone has one I can borrow to save buying them? Its not the cost I'm worry about, just the delivery time! Need the wheel off in the next couple of days.

I did this with one of those useless Halfrauds locking nuts.

Took the car to the local garage and they got it out in 2 seconds with some tool. It was electric with a drill like end and vibrated like a mofo.

hammer an cheap imperial socket on to the end.. make sure its a cheap socket though! the socket will almost 'mould' around the locking nut and then you can try and twist it off....

or just take it to a garage if time is short

I hade this problem with about 10 ray's Ali nuts but that's a different kettle of fish.
Smashing a socket on will work better with steel and your quickest option to try ATM.
If it's only one nut then 5.99 for a socket is relatively cheap compared to the other options

I've twice had to take a car to get new rubber without the locking wheel nut - in both cases the garage removed the wheel using something like the tool suggested above and didn't charge extra - I'd suggest giving the garage a call, they might just sort it out and save you the hassle.

You can get the locking wheel nut tools from halfrauds and screwfix. Iv got an irwin set, but size only goes up to 16. Just google "nut extractor" and it will give you links to screwfix ones.
