Running in
I picked up mine tonight, home via A's and B's all under 50mph, tomorrow night some more and again thursday, friday it's a haul down the M6 to Oulton so I need to get some varied driving down before then.
As an aside, anyone had problems lowering/raising the roof on a brand new car? Ours needed a bit of help the last few inches the first time down and didn't quite come all the way up, I had to put my hand on the top of the roof above the catch on the drivers side to get the clips home.

Read page 154 of the user manual.
Everything will be crystal clear.
It is why Honda wrote such a document. ( mind blowing I know!! )
But it explains things like the secret compartment ( which many people are surprised about )
Where the fuel filler release cap is, what the tyre pressures should be, what oil to use.
What a minefull of information about the car, by those who designed and built it...
Really have a quick read of it before you go driving out of the showroom.
I followed the instructions as per the manual.
625 miles exactly
- 6K
700, 7K
800, 8K
900, 9K
driving on the motorway is fine, just drop it a gear to vary the revs a bit.
And on the same page - take note what it says about the brakes.

Low revs and big hills will kill it, high revs and no load won't.
High revs / low load is exactly the conditions under which the bores will glaze, preventing the effective bedding in of the piston rings and leading to compression loss in the long run.
Low Revs / High load is indeed bad for the engine too, as it will lead to graunching big chunks of metal out of bearing surfaces under low oil pressure.
Basically, use half throttle, the rev limits described above and don't let it sit at one RPM for more than a few seconds at a time. On the motorway, this translates to using a reasonably high gear (probably 5th?) and accelerating gently up to your appointed limit, then allowing the car to decelerate under engine braking. Repeat ad nauseum!
Running in is a pain in the arse, but it's worth it in the long run. As Fluffy posted in a different thread, it is perfectly feasible to not bother and get a perfect engine, but the more consistent results from test engines are from those which have been run in properly.
FWIW, I am now at 370 miles post engine rebuild in the landy and loving the fact that I can now go to 3,000 rpm, but still hating the laborious process. I have a further 130 miles to go before I can legitimately use full throttle/4,500 rpm and even then I will be taking it easy until my 2,000 miles is up. By comparison, the S2000's regime is not particularly restrictive.
