Running in the silver babe
After picking up the silver machine from Bob Gerard day before christmas eve I guess an update is overdue.
Now technically run in (1,100 miles) car is now screaming to nine but I sense will loosen more in the many (I hope) miles to come. Had CRX and Prelude VTEC's before and they all got faster and faster. I'll swear the CRX was still getting quicker at 50,000 miles!
I don't think I've ever driven a car with a better gearbox (slightly notchy into second when cold but this disappears when warm - may disappear altogether later).Fantastic, almost intuitive change.
Clutch light and easy.
Who says the steering is unresponsive? Maybe not quite as good as elise/caterhams, but still v good in my book.
Heel & toe is ok but I will put a light sparco pedal on existing pedal to bring brake & throttle a little closer - should be fine.
Brakes also seem good - powerful and responsive so far.
Had some trouble getting comfortable, getting some reprofiling work on the squab done.
With all the wet weather mishap/performance posts I've been real careful with throttle and speeds, but so far so good. Car seems pretty stable even with full vtec on a wet road, but this is straightline, and I'm waiting for the baby to bite.
I'm turning down the little dial on the dash that says 'hero' until I know the car better.
She's a beauty and she rocks...
Glad you are enjoying your new toy
I found that my engines really loosened up at 10-12k (I have now done 31k).
I find that under hard accleration in the wet I can't immediately feel the tyres spinning, its a strange sensation. Its good fun to get a good bit of wheelspin from standing in the wet I quite enjoy it at times, no tyre screech and a challenge to gain traction - fun
I think the steering is ok and a huge improvement over my S3 but its the lack of feedback that I don't like. When I drive the wife's Beemer I can feel the road through the steering wheel, and the ruts and bumps. In the S its much harder to know whats going on with the fronts.

After 15k on the clock my S turned into the fastest thing on rubber. Mind you it is a Honda, I expect to see these things in 10 years time with 180K on them being driven by chavs in Southend!
Glad you a loving it!
