Buying an s2k, is this a good deal?- bought!
I just sold my Scion tC today... man it was a mistake to buy that car. Before the Scion, i drove an RX8 which was totaled in an accident - not at fault, hit by someone running a red light. I don't know what gotten into me buying a Scion tC after that. i missed high rev engines
Well i decided that my life is too short not to enjoy and so here i am looking for an S2000!!
Is this a good deal:
2002 S2000 Sebring Silver, 44k miles, 2nd owner
changed oil, brake pads, brake - transmission - clutch fluids
adjusted valves
new iridium spark plugs
The car is actually clean with about 60% on the tire tread.
He was asking for 19k, countered with 17k and he stopped at 17.5 and won't budge. Is 17.5k a good price for this??
Thanks

It's pretty good. The mileage is relatively low, he did some vital maintenance, and has good amount of tread left on the tires.
That extra $500 isn't that much if you think about it. It's usually harder for the seller to give that extra discount than for buyers to give that extra premium. In this case however, it's very minimal..
Go for it!

Agree. Good deal... but check the Carfax or, if the guy you're buying from is in the same state as you are, see if you can check the accident records through the DMV, Secretary of State, or your insurance agent.
I paid 21.5 K plus predatory Chicago taxes for a yellow 2004 with 40 K and a hard top last November. The Carfax was clean, but the Virginia DMV listed a front-end collision that could be picked up by Carfax at any time...

i checked the carfax and it seems like there's a discrepancy caused by dealership transfer. it states there's 4 owners and the transfers are made within the same week. The seller did state that the car is bought from his friend's dealer. Other than that, the car is never involved in any accident from what i can see.
Cant believe you went to Scion after an RX-8! Sh*t!! Anyways.. just paid 28K for 2007 Laguna Blue Pearl. 17.5 for a 2002 hell yeah! Hondas are that good at retaining value....its actually very cheap for hte car you are getting. I'd say PURCHASE BABY!!!

Plus all the oil consumption! The rotary engines are just oil guzzlers... good engines though.. unique in every sense of them. Anyways.. good luck and I think you will be doing a very wise decision 2 morrow you will not regret your purchase. Love my S, and yes, I use to drive an RX-8.
