Default Rust Question

Hi All,

I think it must have had a panel replaced or similar at some point as underneath the door the join underneath to the outer edge has a line of rust down it. It doesn't look majorly bad but I would like to remove and treat for the future..

I have looked at a load of guides which say to get wire brushes on and get to bare metal then re-paint etc (eek!!)

Is there not a simple way of removing and treating (maybe touching up with a paint stick or similar after) that doesn't involve sanding and respraying? It is literally a mm wide by about 2 inches in length if that.

Have seen a few products like Hammerite and Jenolite but unsure what to do for the best...

Thanks

The right way to treat rust is to get the paint off, treat the rust, re-prime and repaint. But then you know that right?

If you want to do a holding job get a rust converter like Krust or similar, clean the area and apply with a small brush. Give a second coat when dry. The rust will convert to a phospate. Remove all traces of converter from the paint and then touch up with a paint stick or similar.

However this is not a cure!!!!!!
