Default Rust - Surface or Structural?

Noticed some rust on the S the other day and am not sure whether it would be covered under the 6 year structural corrosion warranty as the car is out of the 3 year warranty.

I'll try and describe the location as I don't have any photos. In the engine bay as you lift the bonnet there is a black metal bar that runs along the front where the bonnet catch is. There's an area of about 3 50p coins that has started to rust and bubble. Would I get away with getting this fixed under warranty?

I'll look for an engine bay shot and try and show where I'm talking about.

2003 is still within the 6 year anti corrosion warranty prviding the car is genuine or at least genuinely repaired by a VBRA recognised outlet. Go see Mr Honda, they actualy like these jobs because the dealer makes money out f Honda UK.

Yeah, looks like it holds the front bumper down.

I don't think warranty work is as profitable as normal work though - my dealer certainly isn't too keen on it.

Russell, that black bar which I think you are talking about I had replaced under warranty, although mine was under 3 years old at the time, so I don't know what bit of the warranty was applied.

It's not structural at all - holds something else down IIRC.

It must be a common problem as I noticed it on my NIOP 03 so will have a chat with the dealer tomorrow as it is booked in for other work, it must be where the water settles when it rains or you wash it! I will be making a special effort now to dry it after washing.
