Well, I have to say...
I'm astonished with your considered, and intelligent replies.
I was expecting to need the Nomex suit and indeed, deliberately put a couple of "teaser" comments in there for the kids to bite on.

A few VERY interesting points - let me go over them:
I HAVE driven the car 90% in the wet, the dark and the cold.
I drive to the station every morning and then commute by train into London from the West Country so conditions have NOT been helpful.

It has brand new tyres all round. Conti's, fitted by the previous owner.

I'll check the spacers, but the car has done 30k miles in 2 years - I'll be astounded if they are still in?

The [glass] window needs a shove to get it folded "flat" allowing the hood to get properly low and not obscure rearward vision? I have to get out to do that and it irks me - but yes, it has been cold.

Speaking of rear vision, I think a hard top would help me out for winter, should be waterproof AND stop me looking through a pillar box when reversing right?

I KNOW i should have driven a few more, but I intended buying private at

Don't be, I seem to think Bassoctopus and others had the spring spacers in place for at least as long. My car was an ex demo, with all the correct ticks on the paperwork for removal of the spacers.....

Recommended tyres are the OEM fitment Bridgestone RE050MZ for an MY05.

You just need a sunny day (winter or summer) air box off cover off and give the car a good blast, I think the term is drive it like it's been stolen.

Good luck

I dont experience any of these issues you state.

I bought a 01 model.

No leaks etc, Ride quality is just fine and this is coming form the owner of a BMW 1 series, A vauxhall corsa and a few other cars including merc 190E etc.

I find it just fine on bumps, you should try a Z4. 41K and it bounces when it hits a pot hole. The S2000 might be a tad stiff in the pot holes but it's not as bad as many so called luxury cars.

As for the back end. I really have no idea what the deal is here. As long as you have good thread on your tires you have nothing to worry about. The car is so easy to handle I drive it in the rain like I do in the dry. Yes I've had the back end twitch a few times but really nothing more than any other performance car I've driven that has semi slick tires on.

Doesn't matter what car you drive if you push it and it's got power it will go and take you with it.

I think you should all give him a break, hardly trolling is he, just an
owner finding some personal short comings with the S.

And those 'newcomers' who think the car's oversteer tendencies are
overated, well see you on Carpers thread sometime

You know you made a mistake. You walked into the showroom and wanted a CR-V but you accidentally asked for an S2000!

the S2000 is not the ideal commuting car. It's seems cruel to make it sit in traffic jams in the wet.

One of the reasons I bought it was it's great for seeing girls knickers!

Above all though it's a drivers car. Find a smoothish twisty road early on a sunny spring Sunday morning and just drive. The private road up Porlock hill in Somerset is the sort of road I'm talking about. You'll know why you bought it then.

The car is raw that's a large part of it's charm. Thank god it's not a clone of the Porsche Boxter or the similar but better the Mazda MX5 (MX5 is a great little roadster in my book BTW but it's not a sports car.)

It has ALL the requirements of a sports car. It doesn't have to
have massive power etc.
