I had it the opposite way round to Clarkie - bought mine in April last year just before the 'heat wave' and had almost 6 months of uninterrupted summer weather with warm, dry roads. I had the best driving experiences of my life last summer and it was all down to the 'S'.

Once it started raining, it lost a bit of its appeal, but I would've happily have put up that throughout the entire winter just to get back to roof down v-tec-ing all summer long again!

I did have a nasty experience with having the wrong tyres put on the back though. It changed the car markedly from being utterly stable and sure-footed to being a complete bag of spanners that wanted to kill you at every turn.

Put the RE050 MZ's on and I'm sure you'll have a car that's much more manageable.

At least give it until the summer to decide whether to get rid or not. Over the weekend, with the sunny weather, I was really missing my 'S'.

mmmmm Porlock Hill!

I have to say the S isn't everyones cup of tea! I salute you Clarky for admitting it - I don't understand you but I salute you!

I also feel well hard now after your post for owning 2 S2000's!!

I'm just off outside to whip myself with some branches!

Already a tonne of suggestions on this thread for you but as I'm only 22 miles away in Pewsey I'm happy to meet up and compare my 04 to your car if you like? Let me know if that would be helpful...

So far I haven't had your issues and I also bought my car secondhand. I find there is less grip in the wet but I'm still able to zing along on the motorways wet or dry. The roof seems to sit down just fine whether it's cold or not. The ride seems fine too. The car's got 34,000 miles on it so it's nicely run in now

I would say persist with it for a bit longer. I came from a TT and I have to admit to not liking the car when I was using it initially, but over the last 8 months it has grown on me.

Still hate driving it in traffic though when it kangaroos!

The ride quality - Appalling. Dreadful. My vision is blurred for 10 mins after every drive.
Yes I know it's a performance car, but it should be supple, firm. It's just hard. It crashes into potholes. After a 13hr day, I want something that will get me home without being on the ragged edge.
I find this odd, as I am very impressed with the ride in my S. I was expecting it to have hard suspension and be very unforgiving on potholes, but I have found quite the opposite - the car soaks up the vast majority of bumps really well. I think the Honda term for the new civic type R is 'rawfined'. That suits the S too IMHO - A raw sports car drive, but with enough refinement to be able to use it as a daily drive.

I have read somewhere on here that the suspension was tweaked for MY06 and it also has new seats, but it is hard to believe that it is that much better than a MY05 car?

I was also expecting it to be hard as nails, but was surprised how well it coped with the lumps and bumps. Not half as clattery as a friend's Z4. Mine's an 04.

One thing worth mentioning is that there is a S2000 specific fitment for the RE050s. I had a different variant fitted to mine when I bought it but as they're still on I can't comment on the differences to ride and handling etc.

but this car in question has Continentals on it

I know the later models have been 'softened' but I bet they're still as fussy on the tyres and their pressures.

Not only is this car on the wrong tyre (or at best, one that nobody else here has had any experience of) we don't even know what pressures he's running.

A bit of misinformation there!

I've owned and had the suspension apart on 04, 05 & 06 cars - there is NO difference!
