no no, nitrous wasn't installed... guessing you read my FS?

I just have no idea what happened... there has only been one more case that i found on s2ki where heat and scoring occured on the intake camshaft casings.. it's such a strange fault, I think there was something wrong with the oil system or something... as oil has always been monitored!!

I'd rather put in an unopened engine that prat about with a broken one - it is usually a fool's errand.

Don't worry about model years and DBW and shit; you can transplant 'your' manifold etc onto the new engine and it will work.

Later engines will break just as effectively if mistreated.

I think I said that on your orginal thread

There are two ways I can think of to score cams;

1. Drive like a c unt with a cold engine. Or these muppets who tread on the throttle during starting.

2. Drive like Carlos Fandango with overheated or degraded oil on a track day. The car could do with an oil cooler, really.

The first will tend to do lobes, the second tend to do bearings.

In fairness there have been a few F20C that have lunched themselves this way.
IIRC Dembo's plus a few yanks.
I suspect many go undiagnosed as when it goes the end result is pistons eating valves masking the original fault

I'm inclined to agree on the cooler.
The poxy water/oil heat exchanger built in to the oil filter mount is

Nah I personally NEVER floored the car when the engine was cold, never above 3k at all until the water temps were up... And the oil was fresh and was due for a change (same with filter) had roughly 6k miles on it...

Could this problem have occured before me, then if I kept it well with oils etc it could slow down the time of failure?? It was noted that the head had been removed before... so I have no clue as to why the engine would blow... :S
