Default S2000 Import Help

Hi all first post but i need a bit of advice.

I currently have a Civic Type R but am looking to switch to a S2000, i have found one but it is an import.

Its done 51k miles and in very good condiditon inside and out apart from the front right wing seems to be a slightly different shade to the rest of the car!

I have driven it and it drives nice and everything inside and outside the car looks and works lovely but i was just concerned incase it had been involved in a major accident in Japan and then brang over here...is there anything i can do to check if that is the case?

I am getting a 166 Point RAC check done, should this be ok to onfirm if the car is ok?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

Ask to see the Japan auction sheet on the car, if the wing was a different colour this would probably have been picked up on the description.

Will you be the first UK owner ??

It has not got any Service History from Japan so im guessing that it would not have one of these either, it looks like it might have had a slight knock on the front side and someone has tried to spary it but not got the exact colour match

Unless it's super-cheap I would walk away, there are plenty of nice cars out there. The inspection should be able to pick up whether the wing has been fixed in the past.

with Neil go with gut instinct, feels wrong, don't do it. If it was kosher they'd tell you everything you wanted to know

Well the car is mint, the inside looks like showroom condiditon and so does the outside. Engine started fine first time after not being started for a couple of weeks and drove like a new car.

Im getting a good price on my car and its working out that i would be getting the S2K for around

Also the guy is giving me 3 years warranty included in the price with an external company called Autoprotect Limited and 12 months mot 6 months tax full tank of petrol! It all seems a good deal and i feel good about getting it just as long as the RAC check comes back ok.
What sort of price would i be looking to pay for a 1999/2000 S2K with around 50k UK car?

And the only other thing is that with UK you cant get it in yellow

Doesn't sound like showroom condition on the outside to me.

And with no service history for 50k miles I would walk away. A mint UK 99 with 50k miles would be about

I bought a JDM which was a similar bargain 4 years ago.

It has been fabulous....in spite of the "Ooh don't touch them...they're all suspect' brigade.

Japanese cars are normally very well looked after and the differences between a UK spec and a JDM are minimal.

Make sure the speed limiter is off, and the speedo reads in MPH and that it has been through an SVA etc.

Dont be afraid of a bargain though...there are some real rough UK cars around too.
