Default s2000 problem

my s2000 is a w reg import, it has 70k on the clock. when you accelerate to 4-5000 rpm the car starts to die out but dosnt off, but when you let go of the accerlater and dip clutch its okay again. It does this intermitley it tends to do it more on the motorway rather then local roads.
Any help will be appreciated.

doubt the ECU has gone, it will run on limp mode slow in every gear, dirty fuel, map sensor or something along those lines seems to be right. ruckus said reset the ecu, i cannot recall how you do this so check it can be doen and try that, nothing gained if not checked.
