Is the S2000 unreliable?
I understand Harvs point, I had my first S2000 after my Elise, one
of the reasons I bought it was because of the surveys etc.
Then I stumbled across this forum after a while after having one
of the worst cars I have ever owned, I was so dissapointed.
But I really wanted to own a good one.
Anyway I bought the current S after reading between the lines of the
forum if you get me. This one is one of the best cars etc etc

S2000 was given the title of the worlds most reliable sports car...
Even tho I have had my issues I would still back this.
I work in technical and trust me, there are far worse cars you could of purchased... like Audi TT, Porsche Boxster etc!

Honda productionise an engine with a racing engine rev range with state of the art construction techniques as a test bed & as a consequence a few let go/get their trannies broken.
Given that some owners are ham-fisted, others utterly clueless about performance driving, or even checking oil or warming an engine thoroughly and you are surprised?
Let's see, The miniMetro engined MG had chocolate head dowels & the stat dumped a vast qty of cold water into it, so that blew up.
Audi made the TT with a mass prod. turbo engine designed in 1934 by Adolf Hitler, yet they still use flints to spark it & wonder why owners get pissed off.
Porsche dunno a Pontefract cake from a crankshaft oilseal...
Mercedes Benz...ha..ha...ha...ha! Zey do heve a sense of humour after all! It's just weak.
So BMW is the only German company that manages to keep the reliability legend reasonably intact. Which is good.
Which leaves Mazda & Nissan.
The RX-8 had a lot of early problems, just like the S2000. Its modern engine can still be bothersome.
The Nissan is an unknown qty, I've heard nothing bad. Which is good.
I won't be rude about Lotus or TVR because they're very low volume. If, in the latter case, nil may be considered low volume, that is.
