Audi made the TT with a mass prod. turbo engine designed in 1934 by Adolf Hitler, yet they still use flints to spark it & wonder why owners get pissed off.

I had coil packs replaced under warranty on my old 225 coupe.

Whats the Hitler connection, thought that was the beetle?

Russ,

I'm so boring, just like Honda reliability. I've had 5 Honda's over last 14 years (still got 3), 2 vehicles had over 120k on them, (one still adding)- some 300k miles in all. As far as I can recollect, apart from tyres, wipers & windscreens, I've had to replace 2 headlamp bulbs, a rear exhaust box and a piece of trim from the rear of the Shuttle roof rails that fell off on the autoroute (my fault - I damaged it!). Optimistic that the S2000 is as reliable, no signs so far that it is anything other than as well engineered and well made as my other Hondas.

I'll tell you if I think mine's reliable if I ever get it back from the Honda dealer.

So I was a bit unlucky having two faults in a week, and to be fair the year I owned it before that nothing ever went wrong. But I do think with the number of engine failures (okay so it's low oil, but why does it drink oil?) and the whole siezed suspension issue (grease is so expensive ) does suggest the S is not as reliable and as well made as Honda's reputation would have you believe.

My car is almost 5 years old.

In the last 2.5 years I've done 30k miles, most of which has been spent thrashing around in VTEC and 2 trips across Europe.

I've also done 5 track days.

Sum total of all issues to date...

1. My battery was showing signs of going flat, so I got a new one for

I am on my second S, and in 4 years I have not had a single mechanical fault with either of my cars.

Yes, had the odd niggle e.g. corroding centre caps, but nothing that concerns me.

The build quality is amazing for such a stiff roadster. I haven't had any rattles either, can't say that about any other car that I have owned or my wife's BMW 330i cab.

The car won't actually let you VTEC until warm, but it's always good to go extra easy on it when cold.

And make sure you keep checking that oil level.
