Default S2000 web site

Hi,

I may be developing an S2000 web site in the near future and would like some feedback on what makes a good site.

I could have all the standard areas such as performance info, photo galleries, changes made to the car from year to year etc but I need something more than this if it's going to be any good. Any ideas on how to make the site a little more interactive/interesting would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ed,

I think you would be hard pushed to better this site, but that said it depends on your objectives and business plan. Or is just to celebrate your unrequited love of S2000s (being a non owner)?

.mpeg and .avi clips of the beautiful machine in action are always a crowd pleaser, at least I whiled away many a boring working day viewing this sort of thing while I was waiting for mine

Galleries of photos were very useful to me also seeing as the car is so difficult to see in the flesh in my part of the world

Yes, I agree, I wouldn't even try to better an established site such as this. There are a few reasons why I'd like to do the site:

Firstly, I've recently registered the domain name S2000.co.uk. I'm using this for e-mail at the moment and thought it would be good to do a web site for it as well.

Secondly, as you say, love of the car, and also I may be doing a bit of web development soon so it'd be nice get another site up and running.

I'm running around in a CRX vti at the moment so have got a taste for VTEC Can't wait to get my hands on an S2000, should be about 3 months hopefully.

Thanks moor deybe, good idea about the MPEGs, I too have spent ages scouring (sp?) the web for videos of S2000s, but a lot of them seem to be taken with on-board cameras so you don't get to see the car properly, although you do get "that noise"

I'll set up some photo galleries as well so visitors to the site could submit pictures of their pride and joy.

I've also written to Top Gear and they've given me permission to use extracts of their S2000 reviews so I'll e-mail other sites such as Autotrader and see if I can do the same with them.

Cheers

Ed,

have a look at this site for some ideas:

http://www.s2ki.ch/

I think he's done a great job (I kind of coppied his frame layout too! )

Definitely pics and video clips make a good site.

Why not include some pics and info on your CRX - I also traded up from the CRX to the S2000. There does seem to be a family bond between them - 2 seater VTEC convertibles.

There used to be an excellent video comparison of the S2000/Boxster S in the library. It seems to have disappeared for the tme being no doubt due to the library being redesigned.I've got this on CD if anyone wants to host it. It's 40 meg. A Motorvision video capable of being viewed full screen with some hairy driving on icey roads. The S comes out really well in the comparison.

You'll need a Div X codec to play the film or you only get the sound. I have the codec in the form of a zip file too.

http://www.s2ki.ch/ is a very nice site, loads of info, good galleries, nice consistent layout too.

I could put a few CRX bits on the site, still a nice car IMO and has served me well - had it serviced the other day, forgot how expensive Honda are for what is basically a fluids change

I would love to see that at some point. If I wanted to host it, could I mail you closer to the time?

Thanks
Ed
