I find the following method the easiest way to guage:-
apple
orange.............small
galia melon.......medium
honeydew.........large
water melon......extra large
apple
orange.............small

good idea StevenM , except really difficult to inplement in a non tacky fashion. The only designs which I think would work, and still be smart & sofisticated are: a tie with a single red start button at the base, with flashing LEDs OR the rev counter image, again with appropriate flashing LEDs. Styling with class !
