Default Sat nav which one to go for.

I know its been done before but with so much choice on the market which one to go for, car has it but the van which i drive day in day out does not, it needs to be easy fit and easy to remove, can be screwed in if better but when the van is sold for a new one i need to be able to take it out without to much fuss.

say one today at costco navman ICN 520

TomTom make good units, but I'm getting a Navman 520 this week simply because I prefer the look of the unit

I've been using a Navman ICN 550 for a couple of months - I don't know how different this model is to the 520 you've mentioned?

It has maps for mainland Europe as well as the UK

It's performed very well in the time I've had it - I've used it in England, Belgium and Holland

Biggest criticism I have is that it does not support full post code search

Did you get the 550 with the extra traffic (TMC) module? If so, how does it perform?

Garmin i3 is cheap and cheerful but is easy to use and gets you from A to B.

I tried the traffic module when I was in Belgium / Holland - It doesn't work in those 2 countries!

I haven't bothered to set it up over here as it's very messy (trailing an aerial cable around the screen) - Also it's not practical to hide or remove from the vehicle each time it's left unattended
