Default Scratches on plastic window

I have noticed when the roof is down the rear window rests on the area behind the seats. This is quite a hard surface and with vibrations from driving I am sure this could scratch the window.

Should there be a softer material on this shelf?

IMO, you don't need to spend that sort of money. I think its a ridiculous price for a piece of carpet that nobody sees.

If you want to save pennies simply buy a 1 mtr length of soft black felt-back carpet and cut your own.

Tack it down with some impact adhesive/glue gun - I removed my shelf to enable me to cut it to a perfect fit.

You MUST use felt back not rubberback as this will perish in the sun and you'll end up with rubber dust everywhere.

Total cost

Hmm.. I knew I should have kept that card..

Actually I didn't make a template as it was such an awkward shape, I just laid the carpet over and drew around then cut.

I would advise against taking the plastic cover out though unless you really have to. Its a real nasty job as there is very little room. I had to take mine out for another reason so I did it at the same time.

I've just made my own roof well mat out of some black bass box cloth, that I got from halfords.

I made myself a template, which made fitting it so much easier. I'll try to find some way of making an electric copy, so others can use it shoudl they want to make their own mats.
