Default Second hand S prices ?

When I bought my S (06) last year it was a year old and a bargain at 21.5k with only 3k on the clock, it was like a new car. But I have been thinking of selling recently and have an add running for 19.5k to test the market and not a single call ? so I started looking around at adds and was shocked to see whats happened to second hand values of the S over the last year.
I remember when I was looking to buy my car last year that a three year old car at the time with lowish mileage was worth about 17 k (ish) two year old cars were selling for about 19k (ish) and like the one I bought , a one year old car was about 21-22k.
Looking at recent adds, you can pick up two year old, low mileage cars now for anything between 16-18k ?
So if I were to sell my car for what appears to be market value now, I would have to sell for about 17k and risk losing over 4.5k in one year in depreciation ? that cant be right can it ?
Is it the time of year ? or have things really changed in the last year to the car market ?

1) The market is depresed.

2) Even dealers are dicounting them now quite heavily.

3) The sun's not shining.

You can buy a brand new S via Bob Gerrard for 21.5 so I guess that is why a 2 year old goes for 17... probably about right

Credit crunch!

I work for a motor lease company and business is terrible!!

Keep your car for a bit, if things pick up and the sun comes out you might have more luck.

When you are next in your vehicle, look to your left, about half way down and you will see a little black box in the middle of the dash.

This box will invariably have a number of buttons or 'knobs' on it. Identify the one that says 'power on' and then at YX:59 mins (where X = a number between 0-9 and Y= either 0, 1 or 2 (2 assuming that X not > 3)), press this button and wait for approximately 1 min and 1 second.

Then hopefully it will be tuned into a 'magic channel' of FM broadcasts. Listen to the magic words that pour out of this box of wonder. You will find the answer to your conundrum lies within.

Translates to Carper's been watching Little Britain & thinks that prices might be affected by people's perception of the current economic climate.
