Did I read sometime on here that Castrol had to brand it Diesel otherwise Diesel owners wouldn’t have been buying it, if don’t say it they go for something else, equal spec but all in the name.

So long as it has the right grade (10w30 or 5w40 are the Honda recommendations) it'll be fine.

FWIW Castrol recommends their 5w40 Titanium line:
Castrol EDGE 5W-40Engine FC20C1/FC20C2

Castrol EDGE 5W-40 with Fluid TITANIUM is the natural choice for drivers who demand maximum engine performance from today’s modern vehicles requiring a high level of protection and higher performance oils.
https://applications.castrol.com/oil...000-(1999-2010)

However, if you pretend you are in the US and have an old AP1, you get recommended
Castrol MAGNATEC STOP-START 5W-30 A5Engine F20C1
And for an AP2 (the 2.2l engine) you get Castrol EDGE 5W-30 M

I'd not worry too much, what matters most is that there is oil in the thing

If you want 5w30, Castrol has lots of options: https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united...des/5w-30.html

I used to run the engine up monthly long enough to warm up than dial in revs up to VTEC no point in going mad then return to garage with wheels in a different position IYSWIM to avoid flatting, although actually the rubber should keep ok. The hard part was replacing tyres on age not tread wear I would get Honda to MOT and do an oil change/brake service for an annual stamp. They will only stamp if they change the oil. I would get 5-30 diesel engine Castrol Edge myself.

PM me your email and you can have my spreadie. There are pop-up comments and words to justify my schedule.
Thank you Arsie for the offer re the spreadsheet - I will PM you with my details. Thats a great help and appreciated.

I also keep mine on a CTECK trickle charger, handbrake off but had not the roof latches open. What is the reason for the loose roof latches? I did buy some tyre savers but never got to use them and now they have gone missing, I just overpump the tyres before storing away. Seems to have done the job. However I never even thought of the rubber perishing over the years. Crikes - more spending on new tyres to be considered. I used to buy AMSOIL from Don at Performance oils - more as a "thing" to do with the joy of early S2000 ownership than for any performance reasons :-)

Roof latched stretches/stresses the vinyl over the frame hence increases wear and aging. UV (sunlight) is what perishes the tyres' rubber, by storing in a darkened garage you should reduce this anyway. My old dad was a stickler for tyre care but his pop up trailer caravan blew a tyre big time joining the M25. It was perished though plenty of tread remained. Whole rig span and fifty yards down the road came to rest unharmed. Shook him up so he never toured again. Had stored the trailer same place every year, same side south facing.

As Lovegroova says main thing with oil is, keep it topped up - and change it as often as your best girl's knickers

Thumbs up

Spreadsheet received - thank you Arsie! Thats a scary story on tyres and made me stop and think. Like my mechanic friend says, its only those 4 pieces of rubber each the size of a large foot thats between you and the tarmac.

Best I get the old girls knickers changed and start to enjoy her more. I'll never use her as a daily but everything deteriorates with time, including me! So best I get some miles out of her this year.
