Bin your dealer.

I am waiting to get my 3rd clutch put in under extended warranty on an 01 with 28K on the clock.

The buzz is there and the clutch bite is very high, hand on heart i have not been that happy with the clutch for over a year. But the noise the plate or bearing (whatever the problem is) was making and the fact that it has started to get jerky on the bite point when pulling away was really starting to pi** me off.

At the end of the day i didn't spend 25 grand on a car to have a shitty clutch and am extremely upset that my local dealer just brushed the problem aside with a note on my service bill saying it will cost me

The idea of buying an 04/05 has lost its appeal for the time being. I will keep you posted, thanks for the replies there are much appreciated.
Bring it over and I will take a look. FOC. It hurts to hear of somebody thinking of defecting.

this is yet more proof that the typical honda dealer is a useless aunt.

feck me, i'm running scared now, I use my car pretty hard most of the time, its an 01 with about 14k on the clock, check the oil all the time (2-3 weeks) never been low.. it worries me that you have to and it worries me that clutch problems are commonplace.. cant help but agree with molly, you dont spend 26k on a supposedly reliable car to find its a bag of shyte. if i wanted that i'd get a stupid-fast 2 year old tamora for

I've gotta say that I took mine in about a week ago, explained the problem and the guy was very switched on. He took it out for a 10 minute spin and came back with no doubt that it was the clutch problem.

Well done Yeomans Honda

I received a reply from HUK on Saturday regarding my worn clutch, they have basically said that the clutch is not covered under warranty.

Honda's reply.

" i'm sorry to hear that your clutch is worn, and that you're disappointed with the longevity of this part. As you've already been advised, the clutch is not covered under the manufactures warranty as it's considered to be a wear and tear item. The life span of clutch will predominantly depend on road conditions, driving style and usage which is why, like most vehicle manufactures, we don't include the clutch as a warrantable item."

"Our dealers will always inspect a clutch to rule out the possibility of a manufacturing defect. When damage is caused to the clutch through wear and tear, it is fairly obvious when looking at the clutch plate itself. Because of this, we can confidently rule out a defect and you will be charged for the clutch to be replaced."

I would appreciate it if any board members who have had their clutches replaced by HUK under warranty could contact me so i can use this as leverage. All names and reg's would not be used, i am interested in numbers, year of car and possibly the dealers that carried out the work.

thanks for your help

Philip.
