I'm gonna book my car in for a service next week and I want them to change the gear box and diff oil. I've had a look around but can't find the quantity and type of oil that I need to buy. Can anybody fill in the missing spaces please?

Engine - Castrol Edge 5w40, quantity?

Gearbox - Honda MTF-3, quantity?

Diff - type? quantity?

Thanks guys.

There's a few pointers in the FAQ https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/301...st__p__5798518 but there are no quantities for the gearbox and diff they can be found in the car manual.

Gearbox 1.5L change, 1.6L total.
Diff 0.7L change, 0.8 total.

I'd go for the Honda recommended diff oil (SAE 90 GL5 Hypoid Gear oil and make sure it's not the one for the CRV )

Thanks mate, looking at Hendyeshop they only have one type for sale http://www.hendyeshop.co.uk/hypoid-g...he-28007-p.asp but in the description it says also suitable for the CRV. Is the description wrong or is this oil actually not suitable? I know Si is quite knowledgeable about the s2k and I'm sure others will have bought this oil from him before.

Yeah I saw that - same on his eBay shop, I think the picture is the correct one (Hypoid spec) just that the description title is wrong. It has the correct part number in the description 08294-99901HE though.

Cox's also back this up http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genui...re-p-1827.html

Can you use MTF94 for the gearbox? Specifically the Land Rover stuff?

I keep reading MTF3 is too thin for S2k.

75W/80 GL-4 is the same as MTF94 right?

I used Honda MTF-3 for my gearbox and HGO-3 for the diff when I done my service. It is what is recommended for the S2000. 2 litres of MTF-3 and 1 litre of HGO-3 required.

Not sure I'd use the Land Rover stuff but there are people that recommend the Amsoil MTF ( not imported to the UK anymore??) or Redline MTF - I'm not going to get into a "which oil" debate though, as a quick forum search will reveal many lengthy debates on the subject
