Default Servicing in Manc'

Hi all , nice forum!

Picking up new S2000 from BG a week on saturday .

Being from the Manchester area I have a few dealers to choose from when it comes to servicing. Any recommendations from my fellow northerns?

Cheers, Jez.

Hi welcome, a lot of people on here recommend Lookers in Warrington, not too far from Mancs where I will be going for my next 36K service, I called them up about servicing and they seemed to know about the S2000 unlike Gordons in Bolton!

DON'T go to Stretford. Bunch of chancers.
I've not had good service for various reasons on a number of occasions.
I decided to get mine serviced at Altrincham instead.
And they were only satisfactory at best.

I've been using Arnold Clark in Altrincham for 5 years over two S2000's.

One word: Excellent.

That really doesn't sum them up well enough. Dunno about the Stretford branch though (or Manchester whoever lot); both Altrincham and Stretford were taken over from Savoy and I really think it's the people that work at the individual dealership, rather than the company that owns them that makes the difference.

Not sure exactly where you are, but if it's convenient, take it to Altrincham and jump on the tram to work! For me it's take it there and walk 5 minutes to work, but if I changed jobs, they'd still service my car!

Cheers,

Neil

Arnold Clark Stockport were pretty good for me ,very thorough and great service. When you want that personal touch i take mine to Simon at Technocars out in the middle of nowhere at Kell Green Farm.He specializes in Mx5s and did an unbeleivable job on the 4 years i had mine. When i mentioned that my baby was going and what i was getting he said no prob as he had already done 3 fits of traction control on the s2k, and was already servicing them. He really is good, thorough and if there are any probs he will find them.Oh and his pricing is more than reasonable.

with Neil.

Been using AC Altrincham for the last two years since i got mine from BG's. While i can't say excellent they are good with their servicing. Costs are the usual. Their bodyshop work however is excellent.

If it is coming from BG use a Honda Dealer for the warranty period. Lookers in Warrington have been good with me, unlike 2Mills or the guys in Macclesfield.

Once it is out of warranty take it to TDI North in Warrington or Hyper Sports in Hindley Green

Thanks for that, I've already had an odd encounter with Arnold Clark Stretford, so will probably avoid them. Warrington or Altrincham are both convenient, do they do collect and deliver? How do you broach the parallel import thing with them?

By the way where do you guys go for breakdown cover, didn't realise until recently that this was one of the two differences between UK and parallel import cars?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Its not an import as it is an EU car. HUK have no problems with warranty issues & neither will a dealer. If they kick off go elsewhere & after making your feelings known to the dealer principle let HUK know.
As long as you have the PDI & Conformity Cert any UK dealer can kiss your arse if he says he won't service it. Likewise insurance, it is a full UK spec car not an import.

Breakdown cover is with RAC or AA. Only warranty differences from EU to UK car is 60k miles threshold.

Not a chance I'd let some monkey rag my car around. That's my job.

Alty do courtesy cars but you have to make sure your insurance covers it.

Stretford wanted 12 quid for the courtesy car. To cover the insurance apparently...
