shut off while driving..now no start
But then you seen to have a UK number plate.

So where the hell are you?
Your luck's really not in, is it?
The most expedient way would be to drop in a secondhand engine - but you'll likely get no change out of £3,000.
Look at a few more UK 'blown engine' threads, to get an idea of the complexities/expense. You need a real specialist, who can rebuild one with enough accuracy to make it successful and not money down the drain.

yikesss at this point i fear i should just either try to part it out or see if someone wants it as a project but the market here is completely different than the states. I paid £3500 for the car itself two weeks ago so im out a bit of change right now.
what a nightmare.... my heart goes out to you! reading the other threads on thrust washer failure if that's what it is then

Still worth getting a diagnosis though... you could always take it to your nearest dealer (Crown Garage in Soham) and say 'hey - no workee - what's wrong'?

Joking aside Nick, where would you go to start looking for a good second-hand lump at reasonable money?
A second-hand engine, fitted, for £3000? I hope you're right, but sounds a little optimistic. I would suggest nearer £4500, unless you know where to get a good second-hand engine for £2500? Most engines I've seen are circa £4000.
