Smashed S2000 on the A1M tonight.
On our way home from Hitchin tonight at 23:00, joining the A1M southbound at Stevenage North junction saw lots of blue flashing lights up ahead on the hard shoulder and inside lane. Fire engine, 2 police cars and probably an ambulance long gone. Looked over at the car in pieces only to recognise the alloys of an 'S'
. Upon closer inspection as we went past, it was Silverstone (I think it was a pre '02 looking at the alloy). Hope it wasn't anyone here, and whoever it was is OK.
I have seen lots of pictures of S's after crashes, but to see one in the flesh is heart breaking.
Strange thing is, that stretch of road is straight and there didn't seem to be any other vehicles involved. It was quite a way after the junction. It's cold out there but the road is dry (and recently gritted) and the S had obviously spun a number of times looking at the front and rear end damage.

Its a good point thats made here, maybe one for the winter thread. Gritted roads could be a big danger. Imagine the random pattern of scattered grit. Some parts will be missed. So when the rears hit that under power the lsd will react as in the standing water situation. Food for thought there and ANOTHER reason to be cautious in this weather.

The gritters around Leam had been trying out their racing lines around the roundabouts and left about 1cm think layer of grit one some as they rolled around at 25 mph. I expect they opened their fuel cap to mix it up with a little spilled diesel too
It's strange, the backend been sliding about and it's dry, (thought there was a problem with car) then I noticed the grit all over the roads. All the grit on the roads puts the grip levels some where between dry and wet conditions. Good fun though, just have to be ready with a bit of opposite lock
