Is it worth putting some extra weight in the boot if you have to drive in the snow?
Honestly...not sure. It'd need to be a fair bit of extra weight to add much traction and would increase the polar moment of the car at the back, making it harder to catch when it did break away...

S02s are not recommended in the snow
But for the price of a set of snow tyres you can have a beater, which you can then sell come March

I always like an excuse to show some snow pics
On S02's...
My own 'private' snow race track
A close call...
Very bad snowy conditions - scariest 40 mile drive EVER - I turned left there

LoL at some of these posts. Can see some people having big grins and others having tears before the winter is out...
Nick - not yet on the 'teg - thankfully it's still got the squidgy Eagle F1 GSD-2's ,which are over-pressured at the moment to get some better turn-in (although I may drop that now winter is here...), and which are coming off circa end-Feb for some nice RE010's...
S2k is on Toyos too (...and I can't seem to scrub those puppies quick enough, want to try some RE050A's), but it's still like a skating rink whenever I hit adverse camber roads...progressive but eye-opening!!!

S is fine in the snow aslong as you can gain some momentum and don't have to stop
I had the most fun ever in the photo's above... it was Boxing Day and I sneaked onto a rarely used airfield for a blast. I was doing 720's on the runway giggling out loud and I span all over the place.
Helped me explorer the car though, but I did manage to get a nail in a rear tyre which was not good
