I personally wouldn't worry too much about these. I think out of many cars the S2000 actually holds its value quite well. A car bought a few years ago for £5000-£6000 will still be worth £5000-£6000 ish.

The reality is, that at the moment there's a bit of a slump in the market. This will be down to a number of things such as price of fuel (people not wanting sports cars), the weather / season (why top down in winter?), the insurance rates (have gone up) and the need to save money on luxuries in general.

Most of all though, the S2000 is transitioning from 'an old car' which has been around for years, to cult classic status.

If you look at integra dc2s, initially when they all started getting old, the prices fell and fell and fell. However, over the last few years, dc2s made in 1996, with high miles have been fetching 5-6k!

The s2000 has been and will be documented as one of the best 2 seater affordable sports cars ever made. I have no doubts if you hold onto it for many years to come (especially at the rate people write them off) they will start appreciating in value.

I agree entirely! Especially when you've had the best part of a decade's enjoyment out of the things.

Also, since you need to look after old PoS Hondas & not rack up the mileage until they become classic, it means one needs several.

One might get, I dunno, an S2K, a DC2 & an NSX all for the price of some boring new Prunkwagen that will be worth 40% of that in three years' time.

Far more entertaining!

Having recently bought I can vouch for the quality of cars out there at silly money. I think the time of year and the economic climate are the main reasons.

However, the insurance will put most young drivers off. One advert I looked at was a 24 year old who bought the car and couldnt afford to insure so immediately put it back up for sale.

That looked terrible, but not as bad as the wheels. They sprayed the whole wheel including tyres, satin black.

I think I'll have lost £7k in 7 years at current prices. And it's cost me no more to run than a non-performance Honda so far.

That's pretty good if you ask me

Out of the low cost ones, I wonder how many have suspension that actually works and can be geo'd.....

The same question could be leveled at some of the more expensive cars out there too. Outside of those in the know (Forum users, tech experts and Honda dealers/independants) most owners wouldn't have a clue about geo/siezed bush issues

Meh, how many newer, far more expensive models have engines that won't blow up?

Who cares what the car is selling for?

Drive it, enjoy it. Lifes too short to worry about money!

Any car over 18 months old runs the risk of having seized bushes.
