I DO know that windscreen repairs vary enormously though. Stay with the guy and watch him like a hawk. Then make sure it's perfect before you sign the completion form...
My experience with Autoglass would lead me to do exactly that too.
Hopefully your local one is one of the better ones.
BTW it is better to have 2 stone chips one after the other on the same screen than having the second one after you have had your winscreen repaired/changed.
Thought about that?

Yes indeed! But knowing my stinking luck I'll have it replaced today (the Autoglass man arrives sometime between 1pm and 5pm) and then tomorrow night I have to drive to Nottingham for a shoot on Wednesday... cue a stone chip on the M5/M42/M1 before I can get it in for an MoT!!!
I'm trying to double-six Fate here...
same thing happened to my a few days before the MOT, ended up with a 6inch split running down the screen so paid the excess and got a new one - but the dolly told me that stone chips are covered on the new one FOC, just ring them up book a time and place and they will come to you and fix it.
Plus side you get a shiney new screen!

He seemed pleasant and professional, he walked all around the front of the car and pointed out any marks (hard to do on mine as it's filthy!
) and then began work. He said it was a bitch to get out but he's done a grand job, no scratches or dings. Currently, there's some red tape on the edges while the adhesive sets, I have to remove that shortly. So thus far a
albeit for a very simple job. Let's see how it all holds up!

The quality windscreen repairs or replacements varies according to the fitter more so than the company involved.
Watch him carefully, particularly when he's removing the old screen. The often use a flexible blade that they run round the inside of the glass. If done carelessly, they can catch the plastic trim on your A pillars. I would suggest popping these off before he gets to work ...
