Almost any silicone oil/paste will work. I just get a 250ml bottle of 100-200cst shock fluid from the local RC model shops for 5-10 quid.

Shin-Etsu is high in lanolin (oil from sheep's wool), softening and absorbable unlike high silicone content ones that can be harsh, divers lube is a good alternative if you can't get the recommended lube.
Be careful some lubes can attack rubber, Vaseline for instance is not recommended except for flexible plastic seals.

The base oil is silicone though. If it's lanolin blended that's cheap too, although it stinks to high heaven

I'll take the Shin-Etsu, I know it works.

I'd be guessing if I tried to buy something cheaper for the sake of saving a small amount of cash.

I've had the same tube of shin-etsu for the last 12 years, overall, the cost is not excessive!

An aresole of Holt's silicone & rubber spray is my goto.

Seems to be very quickly-absorbed, so you'll need to go over it a couple of times.

I use a sock puppet, to apply it neatly.

Since only one of the cars has window frames, I get through quite a bit of it, over a decade...
