Soft Top Problem
I started a thread about this problem a while back and really didn't get much info, I also read another thread from a member who has the same problem so I'm not on my own.
I've got an AP1 and it's been fitted with a replacement roof with a glass window at some point but it seems as if the glass is to heavy causing the material around it to sag to the point the window rests on the rool over hoops which bangs with any bump you drive over.
Over the last two nights I'd thought I would strip out the back and see if I can find out whats wrong but after trying more tension on the straps and pulling more tension on the overlap inside the hood I can't seem to cure it, the hood is fitted correctly at the back behind the fixing rail so can't pull any tension there. What also seems very odd is that externally under the under the both flaps to the side of the sceen there's one side of velcro stitched in but nothing on the other side to stick it to, if this was present it would pull the sreen back away from the hoops and cure my problem.
My question is, have any of you guys came accross this problem and is there any solution to it?? I hope you can get get an idea of whats going on, I have taken some pics but not sure how to upload them. Thanks in advance.

I have a later hood fitted and looks like the rear straps have been fitted in the wrong place, these straps seem to be fitted to the side of the frame and not where they used to fitted on the old style hood.
I think then the tension for the window section can be made with the flap that velcros together between the rear and middle roof hoops. Worth a try and I'll let you know if it cures the problem?

ah in that case it's also worth trying with a bit more tension on the straps between the two frames, directly above the seats.

Have you also seen my recent how to on replacing the soft top? If the black metal brackets that make the 'c' shape going around the back of the car are put back in upside down then it doesn't put enough tension on the back of the roof and the top of the glass does touch the roll hoops. The second is the straps that you refer to. They should be placed on the 2nd peg of the roof fixings for them to pull the top bar back properly into place and lifting the top of the roof again clearing the screen from the roll hoops. No idea about the new to old roof design though, didn't know there was one.

Do you know what make your hood is by any chance??
