Default Some Hard Top Help

I took my S to Essex Park Honda at the weekend to ask them to check the hard top as I could not get the Bl00dy thing to fit ( after 3 hours and two of my neighbours getting involved).

They then told me that the roof top was out of shape and had warped but not to worry as it is covered under the warranty as the car is only 6 months old.

I received a call today saying that they need the car for three days to carry out checks....

I am happy with that (apart from getting a Honda Jazz as loan car) but then they said that Honda have turned down the warranty claim, stating that this has never happened before and has never been reported EVER.

I do not believe them..... as they sold me the car telling me the mats, tourniquet cover, roof stand and roof cover were additional costs and were not standard with a GT model.

Not true as they have since sent me all of the above with no additional cost.

Has anyone had this problem with the roof not fitting before as I am sure I have seen a posting about this.

The honda garage have said it would be good if I can tell them of others that have had this problem.

I was quite worried when coming to refit my HT a couple of weeks back, though after a good while it finally seated. Definitely still concerned that it may have warped slightly. Would also be interested to hear others experiences.

I seem to remember that Leggy had this problem.......but it may be that the car was twisted, not the roof!!!!!!!!!

I guess that you stored the HT on the stand?

How long was it before they delivered the stand? - You might make a case of "not being able to store the HT properly due to incompetence of dealer" i.e denying that the GT came with all the bits and then not delivering it on time.

I suggest you take this Warranty claim up directly with Honda!!

I fitted the hardtop last weekend - it fitted okay. It's always a little difficult to fit it perfectly after it's been sitting for 8 months but it went on okay. I had to make sure that both spikes went in perfectly and at the same time - apart from that - no probs - no sqweaks either. The front clasps went on easily too.

Read a post somewhere about alluminium being more prone top expansion and contraction???

Brads - deifinitely don't take any bull from them. Just go to another dealership.

I have been keeping the roof suspended in the garage as the dealer took so long sending the stand.

I did say that how could I store it on a stand that you have not even given me yet... see just smiled and went Mmmm!

These are the same people that said "oh no Mr Wright Honda are not bringing out a new model in 2004" "there are no plans of a face lift..........Yeah right My Arse.................

Sorry to hear about your HT woes, Brads - but the above really made me laugh.

I think you're referring to the tonneau cover
