Default Some help with ICE please

Hi,

I do try and search the forum before posting any questions but on this one i think i need to ask for some help.

I want to upgrade the head unit. I'm not really fused what it looks like or make but i would like to be able to use the controls by the wheel. Also, i want it to take my ipod as well.

I have seen a picture on here of one car with the ipod connector and cable coming through into the centre section and the ipod being mounted on the back of the glove compartment door.

Also, If anyone knows a good place to get this stuff installed around the birmingham area.

Also thinking of uprating front speakers if anyone hads any recommendations.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Mark

all easily done.

Headuint - Pioneers and alpines are popular on here. However brand is not a crucial factor - find one that has features you want. I use the pioneer p75bt blue tooth.

Dash control adapters - All headunits will require some sort of adapter but they're all easiy found and installed - I initially got one from the uk to go with mine - worked ok - but not all functions were preserved so I ended up buying a modifry one (from the states) for ~

Thanks cullywoo

I'll have a look around then if i see a headunit i like that will work. Yeah, when i was searching, everyone seemed to have alpine HU's.

Thanks for the info - i might take you up on the offer - just for the sake of driving up to you if nothing else!!!

I'v got an old Renault 5 GTT stored away that i fitted the stereo in. That was easy just because all the panels in the car come off just by breathing on them! This makes running cabling very easy. When its a new car though i'm alway a bit hesitant to start ripping the trim out!

i found caraudiodirect.co.uk and audio66.com the best around. delt with both and both have been A* quality.

im using the pioneer P7900UB - bought it for usb-HDD connection but it does support ipod aswell.
depends alot on your budget, but if i was an ipod user, i'd be seriously considering the alpine x001.

Hughsie - i had the AVX1, it wouldnt fit behind the security door on the s2's.
yes it physically fitted, but the security door wouldnt close. unless the AVX33's have a thinner face than the AVX1's, then you will have the same problem.

thats why i got rid, and went with a pioneer.
