Default Sorry - tyres

Hi All,

I am new here and plan to introduce myself properly later today when I have more time but I have a reasonably urgent request for info. I have put a deposit down on a MY03 S2000 at my local Honda garage for collection later this week. Pre-collection they are doing a number of bits I managed to negotiate one of which is a new set of rear boots.

Now, if this is anything like any other car forum I have been on over the years, I dare say that tyres are a perennial topic that people are a bit bored of repeating but I hope someone can help me as I want to make sure they put the right tyres on as I don't want anything to delay collection!

I have read the technical FAQ regarding tyres but it isn't quite clear on what I need. The reason being that my car is an 03. However, the tyres on the front (and the ones I am therefore having on the back) are RE050s which are standard euqipment on the MY04+ cars.

The FAQ has the sizes for the RE050s on the 17" wheels of the MY04+ but not for the 16" wheels of the MY03. Should I have the size quoted for the S02s on the pre-04 cars or should I go for the wider, lower profile quoted when using non-standard tyres (IE not S02s) on the pre-04 wheels?

In short, should I have:

Rear 225/50/R16 (the size quoted for S02s)

or

Rear 245/45/R16 (the size quoted for 'other than S02s')?

Any advice much appreciated as, at the moment, the garage are putting the 225/50s on as this is the size quoted on their parts computer (which, I assume, relates to the S02s that would have gone on there).

From the FAQ:

[QUOTE]Hello Neil,

The S02 was the original equipment specification that has now been phased out.

Thanks - I just read that after posting...I read an earlier version of the FAQ linked to an older thread

In my defence, there are so many threads about tyres that I couldn't see the wood for the trees...a problem I have just made worse...
