Default Soundproofing

I took my car back to the dealer today to have the roll hoops replaced due to them splitting them when they replaced the roof.
I decided to remove the passenger seat and most of the easily removeable rear trim myself.
I have already soundproofed the drivers side floor/behind seats but I was amazed how much noise came from the passenger side with trim and seat removed - wheel noise/rumble and exhaust noise of the unpleasant harsh variety.

Definitely an area worth looking at if you want to make the cabin a quieter place, I will be adding plenty of soundproofing before putting it back together.

I recently read a thread one the US side of the site about a guy who was soundproofing his S.

In essence he was having problems with the drone from an aftermarket exhaust. he got around the drone by using a couple of layers of dynamat type soundproofing one the trans tunnel and flooring area.

The S carpet is very thin and there is little in the way of sealant underneath. It's something I'm considering myself.

I have already covered the drivers side floor and transmission tunnel in a layer of Dynamat equivalent soundproofing followed by a layer of foil backed 10mm felt.

Behind the drivers seat I also covered all the metal I could with 'Dynamat' and added felt to the back of the panels etc.

It made an immediate difference and I assumed most gains would come from insulating over the exhaust and cat.

I now intend to cover all the metalwork behind the passenger seat area and add felt too where possible.

I'll take some photo's this time
