For those with aftermarket exhausts and intake thingies, why don't you simply put things back to the way they were if the car is too loud?

You are of course right but at the same time wrong

There is good noise and bad noise, getting rid of the intrusive, tiring noise from wheels, tyres and transmission which is unpleasant on long journeys also makes the sound that comes back through the windows from outside clearer so you can hear the exhaust etc better.

Also the stock exhaust weighs about 50000000 kg so its best removed. You can really feel the weight when you put a stcok one back on

I now have my car back with the repairs done.
Rear end now looks like it did before it was reversed into, well better, the holes for the Honda badge have gone now
New hood and new roll hoops fitted due to them splitting them when fitting the hood.
They also had to replace one of the side panels next to the tray below the rear window,

Reduced the exhaust noise etc when I had my single pipe exhaust on. I've actually removed the sound deadening material behind the driver's seat to hear the sub better.
