Default Spark Plug Change

Hi Everyone

Coming up to my 81k mile service, and I was just about to buy some spark plugs, but noticed on the Honda service schedule while doing a search on here for spark plugs and what is actually due on an 81k service, that they're only due on the 6 year/54k service?

Is this right?

With all my other cars I've changed the plugs every 3 years regardless of mileage (mines only done 42k, and only 5k since they were last changed at the 54k service), so is it advisable to change them? Or is it just not necessary?

I'll be happy either way, as I'm quite happy to change them, but will save me a few pennies if it's not required.

Cheers!

Andy

Reason being is that the S2000 utilizes platinum plugs which dont require frequent changes hence the longer gap However take out the plugs and inspect them to see if they require being changed. (You never know if it was done at the correct service interval )

Standard plugs last for aaaages.

I would check them and make a judgement call, failing that spend the £30 odd and just stick a new set in there for piece of mind, they come pregapped and shouldn't be adjusted so it really is easy.

Ah right, now I understand why - thanks guys

They were changed at 54k so will get them checked, but I'm sure they'll be fine.

And if they do look like they need changing, DON'T BUY DENSO.

Why not Denso? I was going to use NGK anyway as they're cheaper.

They're awful. Ngk are a far superior plug, Denso make good parts but ngk are from my experience with other cars also the best plug.

Do a search and you'll find out why.
