Default Speaker problems

I've has a problem with my ICE set up for some time which I thought was a dodgy tweeter connection. However, having swopped the tweeters between doors and eliminated the HU and amp from the problem, it seems that the driver's door crossover is faulty.

The Boston Acoustics Pro Series speakers are 3 ohms. I have bought some Infinity Perfect T tweeters but the supplied crossovers are just low frequency blockers, rather than complete two way cross overs. Therefore I may have to sell the tweeters on ebay

What is the most cost effective way of replacing the crossovers without affecting the quality of the Boston speakers? Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm wary about trying out some Maplin crossovers!

I had a problem with one of my Genesis cross overs. I went direct to genesis and they sent me a replacement.

Might be worth getting in touch with Boston directly for some advice

Do Infinity or Boston do a crossover?

I have Vibe in my car, it is a component set up, really impressed with them. 380w door speakers on low-pass and relevant tweeters off the high pass leaving the standard speakers to play mid. Gives great surround sound.

I've tried Boston who referred me to Boston UK who in turn referred me to a third party, Charles Hyde. I've managed to speak to someone at Charles Hyde this morning to find out if they can source the cross over. I'm a little concerned that it will be rather expensive. However, they are great speakers so I'm reluctant to swop the speakers out.

They're lonely - why don't you keep them company, with a set of rear speakers in the headrests

open em up, they'll only be capacitors and coils in there (and maybe some resistors) one of the caps will have gone probably, easy maplin /solder fix.

I have opened it up but not taken opportunity to test the many bits. Maybe worth a go, as you say. They are very neatly soldered to the circuit board - it may not look the same when I've finished even if my parents bought me a new soldering iron for my birthday
