Default Speaker upgrade - recommendations ?

Hello,
I fitted a new 2005 Alpine CDA-9847R Head unit, the S2000 console controls adapter and the KCA-420i iPod unit yesterday.

Thanks to the TECH FAQ, it was a doddle.

WoW - what a difference it makes to the duff standard tape player & Itrip !

Crystal clear, even with the standard 2001 speakers.

However the Head unit is 45W per channel - I think it can kick ass without any extra amps etc. High freqs sound great. Bass is great at low-medium volume.

I NEED MORE BASS !

Could anyone recommend replacement door speakers, to give me louder bass.

Please don't recommend amps and sub woofers for the boot, I only want to put speakers where there are already speakers....

Many thanks !

As a (kind of) drop in replacement, Alpine SPX-177A speakers work pretty well.

take a look at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk if you are only putting speakers in the same place you have limited choice but some good ones out on the market. have you got a tweeter position on your year?

also depends what budget you have in mind if you have limited funds it will narrow the search down.

[QUOTE=RichT2000,Apr 16 2005, 06:15 PM] 200W sounds good. You say "custom fit" - by that do you mean that they come "customer fitted for S2000 doors" i.e. will more or less drop straight in the holes of the existing 'to 2001' speakers, or you have to "customise the door for them to fit"

Thanks !

What with putting

Sweet - thanks Jamie.

Two last questions if you don't mind.

1) Could you confirm the bass sounds great without a seperate amp (head unit is 45W p/c)

2) You don't happen to have the model number of those jbl bad boys handy do you ?
