Default Speedo Problem

My speedo seems to be giving me jip. It wont go over 75mph (which I never do honest!). It stays on 75 for a few seconds then starts to fall, even if I'm still accelerating. Also, there seems to be lag when slowing down - the speed reading changes very slowly and obviously isnt accurate until I stop or maintain a constant speed for several seconds. This is another S that I've just got which is a JDM and I'm the first UK owner. I'm guessing that when they were converting the speedo from kph to mph they messed something up. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?

Don't know the problem myself, but sounds like a good excuse if you get caught for speeding.

"145 officer, no way, the speedo was reading just above 70".
