Default Spigot ring help

Can anyone please advise.....

I need spigot rings for my OZ's (allegrita's)and from a quick search the front bore of the s2000 is 70.1 and the rear is 64.1? Problem i have is i dont have a good picture of the centre bore of the actual wheels when i measured them! It looks like 74 - 74.1mm, and since im offshore i cant just go check them again! Can anyone advise?

Should really have written it down instead of taking a pic.....

Cheers

You don't NEED spiggot rings. The wheels are located by the studs.

You do NEED spigot rings. The wheel is designed so the bore takes the load of the wheel. If you fit wheels with a larger center bore and dont run spigot rings to take up the gap that is left the load of the wheel is being taken by the bolts. This is not a good.

I have personally had a wheel come off on track due to this, sheared the bolts out the hub.

As ultra said you don't need the spigot rings as the wheels use the bolts for centre'ing the wheels, if you think that a thin piece of soft plastic is going to keep you're wheel centred and stop them falling off that's up to you. For the centre bore to take the load of the wheel it would have so tight on the hub you would have to use a press to put the wheel on/take off.

Oz spigot rings are alloy, the plastic ones are likely to deform and become weak on track due to heat.

For general road use you will probably never have an issue, but for track I would not run without them. Each to their own etc etc....

So, anyone have a set of oz's they fancy measuring?

I'd say that the wheels/studs/hubs have a tougher life on the road than they do on track.

If your nuts are all tightened properly the only reason one would shear is if there's something wrong with it. One M12 bolt can take more shear force than the wheel wheel will ever put through and it shares the job with 4 other ones.

Oh and the force that can shear an M12 bolt will easily deform the soft alu spiggot ring... They're just for easy of fitting the wheel and more so for cars with bolts rather than studs.
